Building strategies to mitigate and adapt to the continuous climate change in Cameroon

The Climate Change Adaptation/Mitigation Program (CCMP) is an initiative of RADA designed to help communities in Cameroon respond effectively to the growing impacts of climate change. The program focuses on building practical strategies that reduce environmental risks while strengthening the capacity of people to adapt to changing weather patterns.

CCMP works to raise awareness on the realities of climate change such as rising temperatures, irregular rainfall, flooding, and land degradation. Through community education, workshops, and advocacy campaigns, citizens are empowered to understand how their daily activities affect the environment and what actions can be taken to protect it.

The program promotes climate-smart solutions including tree planting, sustainable agriculture, water conservation, renewable energy use, and protection of local ecosystems. Special attention is given to farmers and vulnerable groups whose livelihoods are most threatened by climate variability.

RADA collaborates with schools, local councils, traditional leaders, and environmental partners to develop community action plans that encourage resilience and disaster preparedness. Youth are actively engaged as climate ambassadors to drive innovation and environmental stewardship.

By combining mitigation efforts with adaptation measures, CCMP helps communities reduce greenhouse gas emissions while adjusting to unavoidable climate changes. The program contributes to safer settlements, improved food security, and long-term sustainable development in Cameroon.
