Clean Water Access Initiative for Community Health & Development

Program Overview

This program aims to promote healthier food environments in Cameroon through policy advocacy on four key fronts namely; Front-of-Package Warning Labels (FOPWL) and Marketing Restrictions, Taxation of Unhealthy Packaged Foods, Healthy Food procurement in Public Institutions and Food Reformulation.

The goal is to create an enabling environment for healthier food choices and reduce diet-related non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Cameroon.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES FOR THE PROGRAM

-Increase access to safe and reliable water for drinking and domestic use in targeted communities. 

-Promote proper hygiene behaviors, including hand washing with soap, to improve public health and well-being through:

  • Hygiene Education and Awareness
  • School-based hygiene promotion
  • Community participation and ownership

THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROGRAM

The purpose of this program is to improve public health and overall well-being by ensuring access to safe water, adequate sanitation, and promoting proper hygiene behaviors, thereby reducing the incidence of preventable water and sanitation related diseases in target communities.

Preventing Waterborne Disease

Ensures reliable, affordable access to safe drinking water to reduce the incidence of preventable diseases and lay a foundation for public health in target communities.

Infrastructure & Development

Implements sustainable water systems and supports community development by treating water access as a fundamental right critical for dignity and well-being.

Sanitation & Behavioral Change

Promotes improved hygiene practices and adequate sanitation to foster healthier behaviors and enhance overall community resilience.
