About the Program
According to the world bank, the world generates about 2.01 billion waste annually, with 13.5% been recycled, 5.5% is composed and about 40% of waste generated is poorly managed. Bamenda generates about 120 – 160 tons of waste daily which is improperly managed nor recycled. Waste is a major issue in our towns and cities which are concerned and making sure that what so ever that is generated is not actually wasted nor act as a pollutant. Advocating for the proper waste management is the core value of this program by making sure from generation, consumption, disposer and recycle is the core value of this program
Program's Goal
This program is aimed at enhancing community awareness on maintaining a clean waste free and healthy environment in the city of Bamenda by developing innovative ideas in which this waste can be properly used in a more conducive and advantageous ways for us as humans and our environment. |
Program's Objectives
- • Increase awareness on proper waste sorting, reuse and recycling of waste in Bamenda.
- • Advocate for a city-wide policy on solid and liquid waste management and its implementation
- • Launch school and or community challenges (competitions) on waste management and recycling
- • Advocate for the reduction in non-biodegradable plastic consumption and points to a need for further food waste reduction
